ABOUT ME :)
Life Essentials is run by Sonya Pope, a proud Kootenay resident for over 20 years with a passion for first aid and water safety. Sonya knows first-hand the importance of having the training and knowledge to provide basic rescue and resuscitation.

Life Essentials was started so Sonya can help people in her community gain the valuable life skills of basic first-aid, whether needed for a workplace, for child-care, or simply for personal knowledge. She believes that everyone should consider first-aid an essential asset in their lives because it may help save a life someday.
Life Essentials is affiliated with The Lifesaving Society BC/YK and The Canadian Red Cross which are non-profit organizations that provide water safety services and first aid training. The Lifesaving Society is equivalent and transferable with The Canadian Red Cross, The Heart & Stroke Foundation, St. John Ambulance and the Canadian Ski Patrol.

Sonya has been a member of The Lifesaving Society since 2009 and started her career in first aid and water safety as a lifeguard and swimming instructor at the Nelson & District Community Complex. For over 12 years she served the community as a lifeguard supervisor and Head Instructor, promoting swimming lessons, first-aid and water safety with the NDCC. In 2018 started her own business and with Life Essentials First Aid, she hopes to share her knowledge, skills and passion through contracted and public first aid classes throughout the province.
